What are we proposing?

We’ve used community insights alongside our technical analysis of what is the safe and appropriate speed for this road to propose the following changes to speed limits:

SH16 Kumeu/Huapai

  • Reduce the speed through Kumeu and Huapai from the 60km/h to 50km/h from 50m south-east of Old Railway Road to 20m west of Station Road.
  • Retain a small section of the 60km/h speed limit from 20m west of Station Road to 200m north-west of Trigg Road.

SH16 Kumeu/Huapai to Waimauku

  • Reduce the speed between Haupai and Waimauku from the 100km/h to 80km/h from 200m north-west of Trigg Road to 140m east of Wintour Road.

SH16 Waimauku

  • Reduce the speed through Waimauku from the 70km/h to 60km/h from 140m east of Wintour Road to 380m west of Solan Drive.
