It may be off-season but much is happening with the WHGBL!!! No images? Click here ,Welcome to the WHGBL Newsletter! Newsletter Issue #5-22 A FATHER'S DAY MESSAGE! Dear , As summer begins to take shape, I want to take a moment on behalf of the entire West Hartford Girls Basketball League to wish all of the incredible fathers, grandfathers, stepdads, and father figures in our league a very Happy Father’s Day! Basketball has always been a special bridge between dads and their daughters—whether it’s cheering from the stands, offering advice after a tough game, or simply sharing in the joy of a great performance on the court. That bond is what makes WHGBL so much more than just a league. It’s a place where life lessons, teamwork, and family connections grow side by side. To all the dads who make time for those after-school practices, weekend tournaments, and driveway free throw contests—thank you. Your support makes all the difference. As we continue to plan for next season, the WHGBL Board of Directors will be meeting on the evening of Thursday, June 26. At this meeting, we’ll continue discussions around potential rule additions or changes designed to further enhance the experience for both players and parents. We take this responsibility seriously and always welcome feedback from our WHGBL families. You can provide parent feedback to the league through our website by clicking this link Parent Feedback. We’re also excited to share that we’re already receiving sponsorship interest for the upcoming season. If you are a business owner or a decision-making executive—or know someone who is—please click this link to visit the league sponsorship section of the website or reach out directly by clicking on this link to email our Director of Public Relations for more information about how to become a WHGBL sponsor. Sponsorship is a fantastic way to support youth sports while showcasing your business to hundreds of local families. In addition to that, the Board is reviewing ways to enhance the registration process, aiming to make sign-ups easier and more efficient for parents. We are also continuing to collect and review player skill level data from last season’s coaches to help ensure balanced and competitive teams going forward. We were thrilled to hear that several of our players attended the Revolution Basketball Training Open House last Saturday (June 7)! We hope everyone who participated had a great time and walked away inspired to keep working on their game. For those still looking for ways to stay active this summer, Summer Hardwood Basketball still has open registration. If you’re hoping your daughter maintains and improves her basketball skills over the next few months, we encourage you to register as soon as possible. You can see more information below or you can click this link Summer Nights Hardwood Basketball to visit the Town of West Hartford's Parks & Rec website. Just enter the code 412729A in the search area to find the program. Lastly, a quick note to our coaching community: over the summer, our Coaches Confirmation Committee will begin reaching out to coaches from last season to gauge interest in returning for the upcoming year. If you are interested in coaching—whether you’re returning or considering it for the first time—please don’t wait. Reach out to me directly so we can connect and get the process started. Thank you for being part of WHGBL. We wish all our families a safe and fun summer—and to all of our amazing dads, enjoy your special day!
