Temporary traffic light safety

Please continue to stop for red lights at temporary traffic lights for your own safety, as well as that of other road users, and our work crews.

With repair work happening, you’ll continue to see work sites and crews along State Highway 4.

Many of these sites have been reduced to a single lane, with temporary traffic lights controlling the flow of traffic. Roads are reduced to a single lane to help work crews perform repairs in a safe environment.

Te Oreore Underslip

Four of the five pumps are now operating and are proving effective at keeping the ground water levels down.

Hapokopoko Curve Rock

Work on this site continues to progress well. We’ve completed the ‘toe’ element of the scour protection/rip rap placement, and excavation of the road has begun.

Work was temporarily put on hold last week due to adverse ground conditions. The initial design has since been reviewed.

Kukuta Underslip

The design work on this site is in its final stages. There are two historical sites outside the work area but close to the north end of this site. As there’s the potential for further sites to be within the work area, an archaeologist has been engaged to undertake a more thorough assessment.

The site remains under one-way traffic lights.
