Tram Road widening starts for carpool and cycle lanes

Next week we start work on an extra lane on the Tram Road on-ramp. the new lane will start at the corner of Main North Road, continue along the Tram Road on-ramp and onto SH1. New traffic signals will be installed at the Tram Road/Main North Road intersection and at the entry to the Tram Road on-ramp. When completed, the new lane will operate as a carpool lane.

We are also starting work on a new shared use path to link up with the Waimakariri Bridge clip-on cycle lane, which is also being built at the moment.

During the work there will be a temporary 50km/h speed limit in place.

Reminder - Cranford Street asphalting

From Monday 14 October traffic will be moved all the way to the east (Mairehau) side of Cranford Street. Knowles Street, Weston Road and McFaddens Road will be closed on the west (St. Albans) side of Cranford and left-in left-out on the east side.

Once we are finished on this side of Cranford Street, we will switch this traffic set-up to the other side of the road.

This work, from Placemakers to south of Knowles Street will be done during the day.  The Cranford/Innes Intersection asphalting will start in late-November and this work will need to be done at night.
