Sebastian May has stormed home to win the biggest title of his young career – the 2023 New Zealand Amateur Championship. The 17-year-old Cantabrian beat Auckland’s Steven Van Heerden 6&5 in the 36-hole final at Hamilton Golf Club – St Andrews Course, to write his name next to Danny Lee, Stuart Jones, Walter Godfrey, and Brian Silk, who all won at this venue. CANTERBURY INTERCLUB - RECENT RESULTS INTERCLUB ACTION IS PROUDLY SUPPORTED BY OUR PRINCIPAL AND INTERCLUB PARTNER 2023 MEN'S INTERCLUB FINALS DAYThe 2023 edition of the Men’s Interclub Finals Day took place on Sunday 12 November at Pegasus Golf Club in very hot spring conditions. With a total of 120 players across 16 teams and four different competitions all culminating together, it was always going to be a very busy semi-final morning play before the eventual respective competition finalists were found.2023 POLLOCK CUP FINAL The 2023 Pollock Cup Final was played at Clearwater Golf Club on Sunday 26 November with the top seeds from the regular season Waimairi Beach taking on 2nd seed Christchurch Golf Club. WOMEN'S CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS DAY & GROSS STABLEFORD ROSEBOWLThe Women's Champion of Champions Tournament and Gross Stableford Rosebowl were held at Christchurch Golf Club on the 12th of November with representatives from many clubs on display. CANTERBURY CENTRAL MASTERSThe final Central Masters round was played on the 26th of November at Ellesmere which saw the competition's finalists and MVP Harkerss Tankard award both finalised. CANTERBURY WOMEN'S RINGERS TOURNAMENTThe Canterbury Golf Women's Ringers Tournament was held at McLeans Island Golf Club on November 27. CANTERBURY REPRESENTATIVE CALENDAR REACHES FINAL EVENTS The Canterbury Rep calendar has reached its final few events with Canterbury teams battling it out for South Island and NZ Interprovincial honours. See below the latest wrap on all of these events. CANTERBURY WOMEN'S & MEN'S SOUTH ISLAND INTERPROVINCIAL The Women’s and Men’s annual South Island Interprovincial tournaments were held over the 28-29 October weekend at Rangiora Golf Club and Otago Golf Club respectively with the men looking to defend their title and the women looking to win it back in home conditions. NZ FREYBERG MASTERS | 6 - 10 NOVEMBER The 2023 edition of the NZ Freyberg Masters was played in early November at the Poverty Bay Golf Club in Gisborne. Read more below. JUNIOR FOURSOMES INTERCLUBThe final round of the MTF Finance Carlton Corner Junior Foursomes 9-hole and 18-hole interclub competitions was concluded at Russley Golf Club on November 12. A big thanks to Stu Myles of MTF who attended alongside Canterbury Golf President Mike Rondel to present to the players. JUNIOR OPEN SERIES CONTINUES The Junior Open and Order of Merit series continues with the latest event held on 26 November at Bottle Lake Golf Club. With close to 60 juniors in the field across the multiple divisions including twelve 9-holers there was a great vibe to the day. TERM 4 LEARN & PLAY COACHING PROGRAMMES It is pleasing to see the number of young people registering for our hub Learn & Play Coaching programmes this term across the two Hubs. See a snapshot of the numbers below with some limited spaces available for some programmes. GIRLS GOLF - COACHING & NEW MEET UP DAYS Alongside our popular Girls Golf Learn & Play coaching programmes, we are currently delivering new Girls Golf Meet Ups - the perfect chance for girls who love the game to get together. These are all girls having fun playing golf and making new friends. If you're 9-14 years old, have a handicap, and you're eager to play more, then these 9-hole meet-ups are for you. We know that being part of a community of girls who enjoy golf is pretty awesome, and that's exactly what we're building right here in Canterbury. SHE LOVES GOLF SERIES The ever-popular Spring She Loves Golf series is in full swing with events having taken place at McLeans Island, Rangiora, Harewood, Waimairi Beach, and Russley and our final Spring series event taking place this coming Monday at Templeton.
