Our Next Meeting
Barnet VCFSE Environmental NetworkThursday 17 March, 10.30 - 12noon
If you've already been to a Barnet VCFSE Environmental Network meeting then you'll automatically receive an invite and zoom link for our 13th on 17 March. If you've not joined us yet, then do email Ellen. These are informal and informative networking sessions for those working in the Barnet Voluntary, Community, Faith & Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector, where we can come together to discuss environmental issues in the Borough, and work out how we as a sector can make a difference. This networking group will raise awareness of environmental projects that are happening in the Borough, help to establish partnerships and joint initiatives and seek funding
opportunities. If you have any topics you would like to raise/discuss at future meetings, do let Ellen know. FOR PAST E-NEWSLETTERS
Take a Break
Listen and Watch...
Podcasts are an ideal way to catch up with latest news and global insights. But finding the good ones amongst the 1,000s out there is always tricky. Luckily earth.org have done a round up of their 15 Best Podcasts about the Environment. If one of your favourites isn't listed, let me know and it can be shared in a future newsletter. Sir David Attenborough's most recent BBC series, The Green Planet, ended last week but you can catch up with all 5 episodes on the BBCiplayer, which also features dozens of Attenborough's one-off programmes and series spanning 8 decades. To coincide with his latest series, the BBC and EE 5G have created The Green Planet AR Experience, which through the magic of augmented reality, guests of all ages can accompany a virtual David Attenborough on an immersive journey into the secret kingdom of plants. Runs until 9 March 2022 at 55 Regent Street, London. This experience is free to attend, but you must pre-book.

In events on the next two Thursdays
The Tiny Forest near Henlys Corner will be planted on Thursday, 24 February! The afternoon session, from around 1pm - 5pm (or when planting done), is open to all. It will probably get muddy so do bring appropriate clothing and shoes - gloves as well, if you have some. Earthwatch will provide everything else. If you can't make the 24th, the Tiny Forest will need lots of love and care for years to come, so there'll be plenty of ways to get involved in the future. More details here or email Daniel or Paul. Join Capital Growth, GROW and The Totteridge Academy on Thursday 3 March from 4-6pm for a guided tour of GROW’s 6-acre food growing site located on the school grounds, followed by presentations from GROW's Farm and Outdoor Learning Director, and Totteridge Academy's business manager & head chef. Ideal for those looking to learn more about building relationships
between schools and peri-urban farms. More information and to book.

Volunteer Support
Training Session: Flexible and Micro Volunteering
People want to Volunteer and help in their communities, but as their lives become busier and fill with things to do they need more flexible and convenient opportunities. Micro volunteering takes this concept to its extreme and looks for ways, often by utilising technology, for volunteers to donate maybe only a couple of minutes of their time to a cause.
In this session we will look at how organisations can build more flexibility into their roles and engage with volunteers who might be put off by a more structured approach to volunteering. Monday 21 February 2022
10:30 am - 12:30 (online)
