16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Resources to support the upcoming 16 Days for of Activism campaign are now available on the 1800RESPECT website. These resources include social media images and a PDF document detailing suggested captions and supporting text to promote the campaign and support available. From 25 November to 10 December, communities and organisations will recognise the annual campaign which calls for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls. At 1800RESPECT, we acknowledge and remain committed to focusing our attention on The National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022-2032, and its framework to end violence in a generation. Sexual harassment, including workplace sexual harassment, resources New resources are now available on the 1800RESPECT website to raise awareness of the confidential counselling, information and support available for people affected by sexual harassment, including workplace sexual harassment.
Take care, Susan Anderson CampaignsAlways on campaign 1800RESPECT has launched a new national ‘Always On’ awareness campaign to ensure more Australians know support is available whenever they need it. Running year-round across trusted digital environments including news, entertainment, lifestyle and marketplace platforms, the campaign will keep 1800RESPECT visible and accessible, sharing key messages about the range of 24/7 support available by call, text, online chat and video call.
James Cook University Initiative 1800RESPECT is raising awareness of its free, confidential support among university students in regional Queensland through James Cook University’s Survive & Thrive @ Uni initiative. As part of the initiative 1800RESPECT has contributed 500 bookmarks with information about domestic, family and sexual violence and how to access support. The collaboration helps reach young people and regional communities, who can face additional barriers to accessing support, by highlighting 1800RESPECT’s 24/7 national service. DrinkWise 1800RESPECT is continuing its involvement in DrinkWise's Always respect, always DrinkWise campaign during the 2026 AFL and NRL Finals, helping promote respectful behaviour and seeking support among sports fans. The campaign will reach audiences through pubs, clubs, retailers and social media, with messaging, encouraging people to moderate their drinking and treat others with respect.

Violence towards parents New content on violence towards parents has been added to the 1800RESPECT website outlining what adolescent to parent violence is, what it can look like, and where parents, caregivers, and children and young people can access support and safety planning. To read more, visit the 1800RESPECT website. Supporting multicultural communities 1800RESPECT recently partnered with the Harman Foundation to develop a community awareness flyer. This campaign focuses on culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in the Riverstone electorate of NSW. It highlights the foundation's multicultural support services alongside 1800RESPECT's free, confidential 24/7 counselling, information and support services, helping connect multicultural communities with culturally responsive support and information available in more than 30 languages. 1800RESPECT is available to all cultures and communities, and translation and interpreting services are available.
Research and Reports
Victorian State Government, Justice and Community Safety: Aboriginal Victims of Crime Strategy 2025 - 2035. The Strategy outlines a path forward to achieve a shared vision of a victim support system that provides culturally safe services that support Aboriginal victims of crime to heal. Journal of Health Economics: Overstretched: Financial distress and intimate partner violence in the U.S. This study examines the effect of financial distress within households on intimate partner violence in the United States. International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy, Uni of Melbourne: Suicides and Claimed Suicides in the Context of Domestic and Family Violence and Coercive Control: Legal and Policy Responses. The article stresses the need for timely investigation of purported suicides as potential homicides where there is any suspicion of previous domestic and family violence and considers the possibilities for law and policy reform. Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety (ANROWS): The Interventions for migrant and refugee men who use domestic, family and sexual violence: Experiences and perspectives of migrant and refugee men and women, service providers and other stakeholders report examines how interventions, particularly men's behaviour change programs, are experienced by migrant and refugee men, their partners and service providers. The report identifies barriers to participation, highlights promising culturally responsive and in-language approaches, and outlines policy and practice recommendations to strengthen engagement, accountability and safety outcomes for women and children. Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Commission: The Yearly Report 2026 outlines progress under the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2032, highlighting developments in governance, funding, evidence building and lived experience engagement. It identifies ongoing challenges, including rising reports of sexual violence and gaps in justice system responses, and recommends stronger accountability, early intervention and coordinated action to make domestic, family and sexual violence “rare, brief and non-recurring”.
