Welcome to the latest newsletter from the Clean Car programme.

In this update:

• Reminder: annual CO₂ targets changing on 1 January 2024
• CO₂ credit reports now available

By 31 October 2023, Fleet Average importers were required to submit updated documentation to remain on the Fleet Average scheme. This included most recent audited financial statements, a completed 2023 Clean Car Standard forecast and compliance plan.

We're currently assessing and loading these against Fleet Average Clean Car Standard accounts. Reach out to your account manager if you would like to discuss anything in the lead up to the end of the year.

We would also like to let you know that, after this issue, we'll continue to share Clean Car programme information with you under a newsletter that will have other updates for the motor vehicle industry from Waka Kotahi - not just Clean Car news. Annual CO2 targets changing on 1 January 2024

We would like to remind you that from 1 January 2024, the annual CO₂ targets change from 145 g/km to 133.9 g/km for passenger vehicles and from 218.3 g/km to 201.9 g/km for commercial vehicles.

The annual targets for passenger and commercial vehicles are set in legislation until 2027.

Datas, values and formulas

Vehicles that haven’t been accepted or paid in the CCS system - by the account owner or delegate - before and on 31 December 2023, will have the targets recalculated to show what their new values are based on the 2024 target.

Monthly CO2 credit reports now available online

After a request to receive information about CO₂ credits in the CCS system, we decided to provide a monthly report on our website.

Clean Car Standard credit reports

The report shows total credits accrued under the CCS scheme and separates these by new or used vehicle type and account category - Fleet Average or PAYG. It also shows the year the credits are expiring and a monthly breakdown of credits generated versus credits used to offset charges.

This report doesn't contain any identifiable individual importer data and gives a high level view of credits generated across the CCS scheme.
