Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident or Family Member,

Important Update for Residents and Families: Positive COVID-19 cases identified at Calvary The Brelsford

I am writing to inform you that six (6) residents and one (1) member of staff have tested positive for COVID-19 at Calvary The Brelsford.

One resident resides in Pearl unit and 5 residents reside in Sapphire unit.

The Mid North Coast Public Health Unit has determined Pearl to be a low-risk situation, therefore Pearl residents do not need to isolate and may continue to move freely about the Home. The resident who tested positive remains in, and is being cared for in their room.

All residents who reside in Sapphire unit are currently in isolation until PCR tests have been conducted and results received.  There is restricted visitation to this unit until further notice. Exceptions will be made for end of life visits.  Please speak to your Home Manager in relation to visitation.

Visitations to the remainder of the home are permitted as usual. All visitors and staff will continue to wear N95 face masks and shields whilst in the Home.

Routine COVID observation screening is currently conducted on all residents daily, however will now increase to twice daily as per the recommendation of the Mid North Coast Public Health Unit.

Our staff are in contact with the families of the COVID positive residents and are keeping them informed.

Calvary will update you again as soon as any information becomes available.

Please be assured that our staff have prepared for exposures and outbreaks such as this. Our staff are trained in strict infection control procedures and continue to focus all their attention on the individual care needs of residents.

Thank you for you continued understanding and patience at this time.

Sincerely,

Bryan McLoughlin, Regional CEO – NSW & QLD
