Economic development updates to support local businesses

Recovery from Tropical Cyclone Alfred

If your small or family business has been affected by Tropical Cyclone Alfred, there's information and support services to help you get your business back on track.

Natural disaster resilience and recovery

Business Queensland offers advice and resources to help you respond to, and recover from, a natural disaster. Redland City Council's Redland Business Recovery webpage is another great source of information.

Disaster recovery allowance, loans and grants

If you've lost income as a result of the cyclone, read about Services Australia's Disaster Recovery Allowance.

Queensland businesses impacted during disasters may be eligible for low interest loans and grants to help with recovery. Check out the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority website regularly for updates.

Information about the State Government's personal cash grant service is available on their Community Recovery Grants Portal.

Free mentoring for recovery and business support

The Queensland Government's Mentoring for Growth program provides free access to industry experts from across Queensland who can help your business recover and grow.

Natural disaster business surveys

Local businesses are encouraged to complete these surveys (as relevant to your business) to help government understand the impact on business:

  • Small business disaster impact survey - from Business Queensland
  • Tourism industry crisis impact survey - from Redlands Coast Regional Tourism Organisation - Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA)
  • Primary producer disaster impact survey - from the Department of
    Primary Industries.

Face-to-face business outreach

The Department of Small and Family Business, supported by Council's Economic Development team, is reaching out to provide businesses with tailored support and advice about recovering from recent weather events and understanding the available financial assistance and support services.

If you can't attend an outreach location and would like Business Concierge staff to contact you, please fill out the Business Concierge Contact Request Form.
