To mark the start of Women’s Health Month in May, we hosted a roundtable with clinicians, digital health experts, and sector leaders, resulting in this briefing report: The Future of Ovarian Health: AI and Digital Innovation.

This June and July, we invite you to plunge into the rich pool of knowledge that surrounds us, everywhere, every day in the KQ.

Discover where data meets community at our two London Data Week events: an evening social with UCL and a careers event with Novo Nordisk, Google, Recursion, and more. Where climate meets co-design (at our London Climate Action Week event with STCA). Where wealth creation meets local reinvestment through Camden’s new Community Wealth Fund... and so much more.

We’re also excited to introduce a dynamic mix of new organisations into the KQ network this season, from experimental theatre and archival research to biotech and champions of local youth. Together, they exemplify the diverse range of organisations that the Knowledge Quarter unites (more about them below).

Let's dive in.

KQ Summer Highlights

LONDON CLIMATE ACTION WEEK 2025

Constructing Change: Planning For Climate and Communities with Somers Town Community Association (STCA)

Wed 25 June, 9:30 AM–12:00 PM | Impact Hub London Euston

Register here

What does climate action look like when it’s shaped by the people who live with its immediate consequences? What does growth look like if it prioritises repair over replacement?

Hosted in partnership with Somers Town Community Association (STCA), this London Climate Action Week event looks at how retrofitting, low-carbon design, and community-led planning can create a more sustainable, more equitable London.

You’ll hear from architects, developers, and local organisers working in and around the KQ – where ongoing construction, rapid redevelopment and air pollution continue to shape the lives of residents. Speakers include:

  • Deepika Kanthavara Madhava, Built Environment Lead, Somers Town Community Association
  • Jane Wong, Co-Director of Architecture and Historic Urban Environments MA, University College London
  • Edward Marchand, Associate Director, Bennetts Associates
  • Slaney Devlin, Chair of Somers Town Neighbourhood Forum

London Climate Action Week 2025 is from 21-29 June. Check out the full events programme here.

KQ at London Data Week 2025

Data is everywhere, quietly shaping our lives in ways we rarely see. It’s time to make data knowledge public knowledge.

London Data Week (7-13 July) is a city-wide festival supported in part by KQ member The Alan Turing Institute, the UK’s national institute for data science and artificial intelligence. The festival invites everyone to learn, create, discuss and explore how data can shape the city for the better.

KQ Data Social with UCL Grand Challenges

Wed 9 July, 6–9 PM | Impact Hub London Euston

Celebrate London Data Week by joining our first-ever KQ Data Social – a new forum bringing together researchers, technologists, and community organisers from across the KQ working at the intersection of data and social impact.

In partnership with UCL Grand Challenges, the evening will feature lightning talks on citizen science projects – from crowdmapping water wells in Ethiopia to integrating Indigenous knowledge into AI for biodiversity.

Connect over drinks and informal networking, and explore how data and research can support inclusive, community-led innovation.

Menopause Matters

More than a billion people will experience menopause this year – yet, it remains one of the most poorly understood areas of health.

To mark the start of Women’s Health Month, we hosted a roundtable at Impact Hub London with clinicians, digital health experts, and sector leaders from University College London (UCL) Hospital, City St George's, University of London, and more to explore how AI and emerging technologies could help close critical gaps in ovarian care.

What became clear is that menopause is still widely overlooked, under-researched and underfunded.

Our briefing paper The Future of Ovarian Health: AI and Digital Innovation published last month captures the key challenges, opportunities and what needs to happen next.

CAMDEN COMMUNITY WEALTH FUND: DIGGING DEEPER

“The London Borough of Camden is a centre for wealth creation. Camden’s creative arts are strongly associated with musicians like Amy Winehouse and its Knowledge Quarter hosts the British Library, British Museum, UCL, Alan Turing Institute and Wellcome Trust…. However, as is too often the case, much of this wealth is ‘siphoned off’ to other places, whether by record labels or via real estate values.”

The Camden Community Wealth Fund, developed with UCL’s Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP), explores how to keep that value in the community. This “innovative finance vehicle” aims to reinvest in local people and places, combining wealth creation with fair distribution (especially critical in a borough where nearly 40% of children lived in poverty before the pandemic).

The fund is part of a growing global movement to rethink how public finance works – putting power back in the hands of local citizens.

Read UCL’s full policy report about the theory of the fund here.
