How to Handle Introductions in Group Presentations

Hi there! Welcome to Ansley Insights, a monthly-ish email from yours truly and Ansley Corporate Entertainment.

Let's talk about introductions in group presentations...

Fun fact: I've performed in hundreds of stand-up comedy shows. Many times, the comedians haven't performed together or even met before the night of the show. Yet, the audience would never know. For them it's a seamless experience with an effective method for introducing each performer.

Q: So, how do you create a smooth and seamless experience in your group presentations?

A: By going through my "The Art of Powerful Presentations" customizable training program with your team of course. 😜

But seriously, having a plan for the flow of introductions - and taking a few moments in advance to plan them out - will go a long way to creating a cohesive, professional group presentation.

How to get started: Utilize this two-page resource for crafting and sharing your introductions, taken directly out of my group presentation skills training workbook.

Here are 3 steps to introduce each presenter with ease:

  1. Establish the agenda aka "run of show."

  2. Decide the presenter order and who will introduce whom. Will one person introduce everyone? Or will each person introduce the next person after their part is finished?

  3. Craft and share your introductions with each other. Use the PDF resource linked above as a guide.

🏆Bonus Points: Sprinkle in an interesting fact about your colleague to add an extra bit of interest, familiarity and demonstrate team rapport.

Here's an example of how you could introduce the next presenter:

"And now I'd like to invite Lauren Ansley to share our Q4 projections. Lauren is based in our Charlotte office and has led our employee development team for the past 5 years. She was also recently named Employee of the Month for September! Please join me in welcoming Lauren Ansley."
