For two years, Elkanah Linder, PharmD ‘21, has been part of the pharmacoepidemiology research group within the Department of Pharmacy at Uppsala University in Uppsala, Sweden as a Fulbright scholar and then research assistant. Her Fulbright research, 2021-2022, focused on stakeholders’ perspectives and use of two web-based knowledge support systems that provide environmental information on pharmaceuticals. In addition to her own research, she has coordinated and collaborated on several Swedish national and international research projects as well as educational initiatives pertaining to pharmaceuticals in the environment. The ACT Pharmacy Collaborative is launching the Community Pharmacy Student Scholar Leaders Program, supported by the Community Pharmacy Foundation, to give P2-P4 PharmD students the opportunity to 1) develop leadership skills, 2) cultivate a network of colleagues interested in community-based pharmacy practice, 3) apply important community pharmacy transformation concepts and theories, and 4) create a practice transformation philosophy and a career development plan to drive community-based pharmacy practice. Many patients seek herbal products, botanicals, dietary supplements, and natural products to support their health. It's important that pharmacists have the tools to counsel and guide their patients who are exploring these complementary and integrative therapies.
