Our board members offer a fresh perspective on how to address social determinants of health using a community-engaged approach to bridge community concerns and academic research. National Minority Health MonthApril is National Minority Health Month, and it is an opportunity to raise awareness about the health disparities that are more prominent within racial and ethnic minority populations. During this time, there is encouragement and action being held in a wide variety of options such as health education, early detection and the control of disease complications. This year's theme is "Give Your Community A Boost!" and NMHEC is encouraging its partners and the Nevada community to join the conversation and help raise awareness of minority health issues. Campaigns & InitiativesMental and Behavioral Health Campaign NMHEC is leading the development of a mental and behavioral health resilience toolkit to reduce stigma and empower minority communities to access mental and behavioral health resources, specifically Latinx and Black/African American populations. We recently developed toolkits that include a variety of marketing materials that can be used to prioritize mental wellness.
