Trust News Our Chief Executive Raises Nearly £3,000 for Staff WellbeingMichele Moran, Chief Executive of Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, has raised nearly £3,000 for Health Stars, the Trust’s charity, through her annual CEO Challenge. Each year, Michele takes on a personal challenge that tests her both mentally and physically while raising funds for a charitable cause. This year, the funds raised will create a dedicated Staff Wellbeing Fund to support the Trust’s workforce. Update: Townend Court and Miranda House Redesign We are pleased to share an update on a significant redevelopment programme across two of our inpatient sites in Hull. This work reflects our continued commitment to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care and ensuring people can receive the right support closer to home. The programme is progressing well, with Townend Court Phase 1 (Beech Ward) due to be completed 31 July 2026. Phase 2 (Lilac Ward) and Phase 3 (Willow Ward) are due to be completed at the end of December 2026. Miranda House works will commence early January 2027 for completion at the end of March 2027. Culture of Care Celebration Event 2026Colleagues and Experts by Experience came together recently for the Trust's annual Culture of Care Celebration and Phase 2 Launch Event, a day of learning, reflection and shared ambition focused on creating safer, more inclusive and compassionate services. 'Hear the Story' a New Trust Podcast SeriesHear the Story, is a new Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust podcast series that brings together the voices of colleagues and people with lived experience to explore how understanding people's stories can improve care. It has been created as part of our wider See the Story campaign, which supports the work of our Care Culture and Equity Group, bringing together trauma informed care, health inequalities, the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF) and Culture of Care. Mental Health Services in Hull rated 'Good' by Care Quality Commission (CQC)Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust has maintained its ‘Good’ overall rating following a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection of its Mental Health Crisis Services and Health-Based Places of Safety in Hull. Children’s Neurodiversity Project Shortlisted for Three Prestigious Nursing Times AwardsThe project known as ‘Core Needs’ was developed by Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust’s Neurodiversity team and has now been shortlisted in three categories of the Nursing Times Awards 2026, on top of a recent shortlisting in the HSJ Patient Safety Awards. Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust Achieves BCS Platinum Approved Organisation StatusThe BCS Platinum Approved Organisation status is the highest tier of corporate recognition awarded by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. It is given to employers and institutions that prove a deep, ongoing commitment to professional standards, ethical IT practice and the continuous career development of their digital and data staff. East Riding Infant Feeding Team Awarded GOLD for Seventh YearHumber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust’s East Riding Infant Feeding team, which includes the East Riding Family Hubs, have achieved the highest possible UNICEF Baby Friendly accreditation for the seventh year in a row. This fantastic achievement has been consistently maintained through improving rates of breastfeeding and diverse support being offered to families in East Riding. Whitby Hospital Recruitment Event Receives Over 50 ApplicationsOn Wednesday 1 July, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust’s Recruitment Team held an event inviting prospective staff to learn more about working for the Trust and the job opportunities available in Whitby. The event attracted huge interest, with some attendees travelling from outside the area to explore the opportunities of working in Whitby Hospital. During the event the teams spoke to over 50 applicants. New ‘YourHealth Coach for Farmers’ Launched to Support Rural Wellbeing in North Yorkshire RegionHumber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust’s YourHealth service has launched a new dedicated YourHealth Coach for Farmers. Funded through the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Men's Mental Health Fund, this new initiative is designed to support the health and wellbeing of people working in agriculture across the North Yorkshire region. Secondary School Students Visit for ‘Explore Humber’ Careers EventHumber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is working with local schools to highlight the wide range of opportunities available to young people considering a career in healthcare. In July, around 50 students visited Trust HQ to meet with staff from a range of services and professions for their Explore Humber event. Mental Health Support Teams Supporting Year 6 Children Transitioning to Secondary SchoolMental Health Support Teams (MHST) from Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust are working in schools and over the summer to support children as they navigate the move to secondary schools ready for September. Events are available for children and their families and carers to drop into and learn more about making a positive transition from primary to secondary education. Allotment Open Day Showcases Mental Health Support in Green SpacesThe Haven Allotment recently held their annual Open Day highlighting the positive impact working outside and in natural environments can have on mental health. The allotment is run by the staff and clients of the Haltemprice Mental Health Team, part of Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust. The event was well attended by clients of the service and their relatives, as well as representatives from the Bakersville Allotment and the Trust’s Voluntary Services and Estates Team. Staff Raise Over £4,000 for Trust Charity After Completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks ChallengeFourteen members of staff from Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust have raised more than £4,000 for Health Stars after completing the NHS Collaboration Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. The team were among more than 80 members of staff from 10 NHS trusts across Yorkshire who took on one of the UK's most iconic walking routes to raise funds for their NHS charity. Patient Fundraising for Health Stars Charity to Thank NHS Trust for His CareA patient from Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is taking on two running challenges to ‘give back’ to the Trust that’s supported his mental health recovery and fundraising for their Trust Charity Health Stars. Medical Education Celebration & Awards Event 2026Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust's Medical Education team bring together doctors every year to celebrate their progress and provide an opportunity to share learnings. Dr Soraya Mayet, Director of Medical Education at the Trust, opened the day welcoming all attendees to the annual celebration event with a reminder to look out for each other and take care of themselves. Humber Co-Production Network Forum A partnership engagement network of health, social care and education organisations for sharing practice, knowledge, experience and resources.

Friends and Family Test The Friends and Family Test (FFT) is an important feedback tool that supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience. It provides a mechanism to highlight patient experience and is vital in transforming NHS services, supporting patient choice and implementing changes based on your feedback. Each month we will be sharing patient experiences from our different services, alongside a patient comment. 97.5% of respondents (118 total) thought they were involved in their care and listened to within the Mental Health Planned Division in June 2026. "Very clear with how we move forward and the support that is going to get put in place for me."
