We are emailing to update you on speed limit changes in Tasman on SH60 from Paines Ford to Tākaka.

The new permanent speed limit on SH60

Decision on speed review

In 2020 we conducted a formal consultation process for a new speed limit on this stretch of state highway.

We have considered all submissions received during consultation and appreciate the time that you spent providing your feedback. Your insights, and the insights received from the local community and road users, provided us with valuable information to ensure speeds are safe for the state highway and everyone who uses it.

Based on the consultation and our technical review process, our decision is to implement a new speed limit for this section of road.

The following speed limit will take effect from 5 May 2021.

SH60 Paines Ford to Tākaka
From 100m southwest of Paines Ford Bridge to 270m south of Motupipi Street.

Current speed limit: 100km/h (with seasonal 80km/h)

New speed limit: 80km/h
