,Please join us for our RTC May Meeting this Monday, May 16, 2022 at 7pm ET at West Hartford Town Hall, 4th Floor, Room 400 Dear , What a month it's been! Our West Hartford Board of Education (BOE) representatives, Dr. Gayle Harris and Ethan Goldman have done an amazing job concerning the push to have Chief Richard Velky of the Schaghticoke Tribe speak before the BOE. The work of Scott Zweig and our RTC member, Tony Landino who have been working hard on this issue, getting signatures to fight the school name changes, have been nothing short of a miraculous effort. In a very short time, they have gathered more than half the signatures we need (about 1,500 signatures, so far). Chief Velky was spectacular speaking before the BOE providing key reasons why the BOE made a mistake in voting to change the school names in the first place. We can only hope this resonated. Our next step will be to request that the BOE seek to reverse it's decision from February. Meanwhile, Scott and Tony continue to work on finding more tribes in Connecticut to support this issue as well as searching for other ways to enhance these efforts. The fight continues on the K-3 gender identity SEL curriculum. Each BOE meeting sees more and more parents and citizens come forward with the courage to speak out against this curriculum. In addition, we have a committee that has developed a great strategy to move forward in putting pressure on the BOE to make appropriate changes that are right for our young students. Our Town Council representatives have been busy and continues to evaluate the Town's budget while working hard to move the anti-crime resolution out of the Town's Public Safety Committee and into real action by the town. Yesterday, you received an invitation to our annual Lincoln/Reagan Dinner. If you share our values and you want to help move our agenda forward, please purchase a ticket to this event immediately. Our guest speaker is none other than the recently nominated Republican candidate for Governor, Bob Stefanowski. We will also have other candidates for state and federal office speaking as well so, this will be a tremendous event to attend.
