Mental health issues are on the rise among young adults. Half of those who will develop mental health issues show symptoms by age 14.

To address the growing mental health challenges facing youth and young adults, the National Mental Health Advisory Board is launching Evokate, a new digital tool for young adults who are passionate about intersectional issues related to mental health and want to advocate for change.

Created by and for young adults, the tool launches May 19 –  Mental Health Action Day – through a collaboration of the National Mental Health Advisory Board, Well Being Trust, Active Minds, and Young Invincibles.

Available at EvokateApp.org, the tool is organized into three main sections:
Get Informed, Engage Others, and Change Minds.

The digital tool’s name, Evokate, blends the concepts of ‘evoking’ powerful emotion through storytelling and ‘advocating’ for existing and up-and-coming advocates to take action toward improving mental health policy. Evokate equips users with knowledge on how to advocate and organize at the intersection of mental health and social issues for change at the local and state level.

Recognizing the unique mental health challenges facing Black, Indigenous and People of Color, (BIPOC), and LBGTQ+ youth, this new tool provides information on a wealth of topics, such as racial justice, and links to resources such as a directory for mental health providers focused on the LBGTQ+ community.

Content includes videos, advocacy toolkits, statistics and links to related organizations.
