Change of plans on SH1 and Waimakariri Bridge

Tonight, we will fix the potholes on the southbound lane of the Waimakariri Bridge by milling off the old surface in the areas that are failing and re-sealing.

Tomorrow and Thursday (weather permitting) we will be sealing in the areas between the traffic lanes at each end of the Waimakariri Bridge. This work requires a lane drop and will be done off peak.

Sealing the two new centre lanes on the Waimakariri Bridge will now be done in August, followed by the re-sealing of the 'old' traffic lanes.

We will provide more information on dates and traffic management before this work gets underway.

Thank you for your patience as we repair the SH1 Waimakariri Bridge and please drive to the posted speed limit especially when weather and road conditions are not the best.

QEII Drive roundabouts traffic switch over

On Sunday night 12 July (depending on the weather) we will move eastbound QEII Drive traffic onto the north side of the new roundabouts on either side of the QEII Drive bridge. This change means traffic will be on both sides of the roundabouts and we can work on the centre medians.

While the new westbound lanes on QEII Drive look almost ready for traffic, we won't be moving to these lanes until we have some warmer dryer weather (hopefully in early spring). This will allow the road to dry out and the chip seal layer to warm up and bond to the road.

Pedestrian/cycle subways closed over night

On Sunday night 12 July from 10pm till 4am, we are closing the Grimseys Road subway for all users. We will be asphalting the floor of the subway overnight.

We will move the asphalting crew to Winters Road subway on Sunday 26 July.

Due to the nature of the work there can be absolutely no access through these subways during this work. Please re-route to avoid each subway on the night in question.

QEII/Innes Roundabout sealing delayed

We have not been able to complete our sealing work at the QEII/Innes Roundabout last week because of the recent wet weather.

We will be continuing our night work in this area for the next few weeks. We have done most of the very noisy milling work and will now be sealing, constructing kerbs and planting.

Unfortunately, this intersection is very busy, so we have no choice but to work at night.

We need dry weather for sealing so bad weather may extend this work further.

During the night work, the roundabout will be closed to westbound traffic, QEII Drive eastbound traffic can drive straight through on the slip lane but there will be no right turn at the roundabout to go to Innes Road.

Thank you for your cooperation

We have very much appreciated your patience as we have been working on local roads in the area. Our plan is to have, Radcliffe, Belfast, Guthries, Philpotts, Winters, Hills, Innes and Cranford finished and open to all traffic by early September.

No more road cones!

The new CNC motorway is on track to be completed in December this year.
