Delays in November and early December on State Highway 1 over Ōpaoa River, Blenheim

Starting in the week of Monday 19 November, motorists will experience traffic delays on State Highway 1 at the northern edge of Blenheim due to preparation works for the new bridge over the Ōpaoa River.

For road users’ safety, traffic will be stopped in both directions for a maximum of 5-minute intervals throughout the day for around 3 weeks. This will allow sheet piling to be installed close to the road on both approaches to the existing bridge. Work will be done outside peak hours to reduce the impact on motorists.

The new bridge will improve safety and journey times for all users. These works are weather dependent.
