PM Trudeau on campus for dental benefit announcement

During a visit to a Schulich Medicine & Dentistry teaching dental clinic, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced eligible Canadians can now apply for the new Canada Dental Benefit. University leaders say the benefit is a step in the right direction for improving health equity.

Adolescent females are at greater mental health risk from conflict-related trauma, according to a new study out of Schulich Medicine & Dentistry’s Drug Safety Lab. The research analyzed the relationship between war exposure, current living conditions, hair cortisol concentrations and post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms.

PhD candidates Joseph Rovetti, Sohini Chatterjee and Luis Menéndez Guerrero have been recognized for leadership and scholarly achievement and will receive $50,000 annually for three years as recipients of the 2022-2023 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships.

National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
Women in Engineering is partnering with Brescia to host a memorial in honour of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The memorial takes place in the Amit Chakma Engineering Building and includes guest speaker Barbara MacQuarrie, community director of the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children.

Pop and salsa bands concert
Led by new trombone faculty member Denis Jiron, the pop and salsa bands will share their first concerts, performing a mix of classic and contemporary selections. Admission is free and no advance registration is required.

Charting: Popular Music Industry Summit
Students in the Popular Music Studies program are hosting their first-ever Popular Music Industry Summit. Attendees can look forward to a concert and many opportunities throughout the day to ask questions and gain valuable insights from professionals working in the music business. Registration is $10 and includes dinner.
