Petone to Melling construction update
We are continuing work to build the Petone to Melling section of Te Ara Tupua. Work is underway at Petone Station, at the project's northern rail underpass near Normandale, and on the main cycleway route between State Highway 2 and the rail line.
Overnight site clearing - from 9 August 2020
We are preparing to remove some vegetation before we start constructing a part of the path between the rail line and State Highway 2.
The area we need to clear is near the rail line, between Riddlers Crescent and Western Hutt Station. To work safely, we need to stop all trains on the line or work when no trains are running. Working overnight means we can avoid disrupting train commuters at busy times of the day.
Some of the clearing work will be noisy, particularly for neighbours nearest the area. Overnight work will start on Sunday 9 August and take approximately two weeks. Our hours of work will be 8:00pm to 5:00am Sunday to Friday.
