Procurement of Electricity and Gas
Dear customer,
We are writing to you with an update following our previous correspondence which informed you about our intention to apply for dispensation from Section 20 for your energy supply.
Energy markets have been through a period of prolonged instability following the impacts of Covid 19 and Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Energy prices have now returned to levels comparable with 2021 and as a result energy suppliers are now offering longer term fixed price contracts for up to 36 months for electricity and 24 months for gas. Global instability remains the influencer of energy prices in the short term nobody can predict if the current events in the Middle East and Asia will lead to energy price rises, but escalation of conflicts in these regions is more likely to increase energy prices.
The landlord supply of energy is service chargeable under the terms of your agreement therefore Section 20 of the Landlord and Tenant Act is applicable. As explained in previous correspondence the daily fluctuations in energy pricing make a standard Section 20 process impossible to follow, in order to mitigate the risk of an increase in energy costs waiting for the dispensation to be completed, a decision was made to enter into a contract for energy supplies and apply for dispensation from Section 20 consultation retrospectively.
Electricity:
- Supplier: Ecotricity
- Contract start date: 1 October 2024
- Contract end date: 30 September 2027
Gas:
- Supplier: SEFE Energy Limited
- Contract start date: 1 October 2024
- Contract end date: 30 September 2026

Please note: This application will not affect individual utility contracts you have within your property for your own electricity or gas supply which you pay directly to your supplier.
