To be known in the Bible is not always a compliment. We can think of King Ahab, for example—who unwisely married Jezebel, who constantly went after the ways of his rebellious fathers, and who said to the godliest man alive, “You troubler of Israel.” He gave his ear to the evil one, and he listened to the devil’s lies as he framed Elijah as the cause of all Israel’s calamities. Soon the whole royal court and beyond believed the narrative that Elijah was the reason for the disastrous drought.

Pioneering Through the Decades: Andrews University Historical Sketches

You are invited to learn more about how God has led the development of Andrews University from early education to the founding of Battle Creek College in 1874 and beyond. Noted historians and presenters, including George Knight, Gilbert Valentine and other Andrews faculty, will explore related themes during three nights of historical sketches.

Pioneer Operating Budget

When Joseph Leek died, he left nearly $1.8 million to an organization that provided guide dogs for the blind. Nothing unusual there. Except that nobody, not even his own family, had any idea that he had that kind of money. The 90-year-old lived like a pauper, according to his daughters. He watched television at a neighbor's house to save on electricity, put off home repairs, and bought secondhand clothes.
