Our works during the month of November were mostly delivered during the day, with the key focus being on widening the eastbound side of Mill Road and installing new stormwater drainage pipes – where the crew have gathered for the photo above. Early this week, our team moved back to nighttime operations – which will be our usual hours of activity until the project is completed in late February 2025.
One of the biggest challenges faced during the last month has been the presence of unidentified underground services found while excavating the side of Mill Road and the adjacent shoulder. Our team carefully addressed these unexpected obstacles, particularly during the installation of stormwater drainage pipes.
With most of the underground ducting and stormwater work now complete, the team’s focus will shift to cable pulling, pole and light installation, asphalt laying and landscaping. In the new year, the team will also begin widening the northbound off-ramp, which will be done at night.
Our team is dedicated to maintaining road safety while working on their project tasks. The temporary removal of the central flush median on Mill Road during our works on the eastbound shoulder has seen occasions of extra buildup of motorists trying to exit the service centre. When this has occurred, our STMS (Site Traffic Management Supervisor) has temporarily implemented stop/go controls to manage traffic and allow service centre patrons to safely exit the site.
The eastbound lane closure was removed this week, enabling the central flush median to be reinstated and allowing traffic movements to return to normal in time for the summer holidays.
Summer shutdown period: Our construction site will shut down for the summer break starting from Friday 20 December 2024. In the New Year, the crew will return to work on the evening of Monday 6 January 2025.
The photos below show some of our key activities over the past month.
