Welcome to another exciting season with the West Hartford Girls Basketball League (WHGBL)! As we kick off the registration period, we're thrilled to see such strong interest from our community. Registrations are progressing as expected, aligning well with previous years' trends. If you haven't yet registered your daughters, please do so promptly by visiting our website at www.whgbl.org and clicking on the "Register Now" button in the top right corner.

Coaching Opportunities: We are actively confirming coaching positions for the league. If you, or someone you know, is interested in coaching, please indicate your interest in the registration form or reach out via email to president@whgbl.org.

Board Expansion: Additionally, the WHGBL Board is looking to expand! If you're passionate about shaping the future of our league and would like to join the Board of Directors, or if you simply want more information, please contact our league president at president@whgbl.org.

Collaboration with West Hartford Magic: We're excited to announce that Jim O'Sullivan is the new President of The West Hartford Magic, our town's travel team. Recently, Jim and I met over coffee and agreed to enhance communication and collaboration between our separate organizations.  More information will be forthcoming about how we will work together.

West Hartford Magic Tryouts: For those interested in a more competitive basketball experience, the West Hartford Magic is holding tryouts soon! The program offers rigorous training and a competitive environment for players in grades 4-8. Tryouts will begin at the end of September through early October.  The season goes from late October until March. Visit West Hartford Magic Tryout Registration for details and to register.

Playing in Both Leagues: Girls are welcome to participate in both WHGBL and West Hartford Magic leagues simultaneously, provided schedules allow.

Important Note: About 12 players per grade level are accepted into the West Hartford Magic. This year, the Magic added a 4th grade team in addition to their 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade teams. If your daughter makes the team, you've registered for both leagues, and you decide your daughter will only play for the Magic, you must notify the WHGBL before November 10, 2024 to receive a full refund for your WHGBL registration fee.
