Why Australia is missing out on the employee ownership success story.

In Perth, Wednesday, 4th February, 2026 8:30am - 10:00am (AWST)

Join us for a provocative and insightful event featuring Graeme Nuttall OBE, the International Ambassador for Employee Ownership Australia and a global authority on employee ownership.

Date: Wednesday, 4th February, 2026

Time: 8:30 AM in Perth (AWST, which is 11:30 am in Sydney and Melbourne, 10:30am in Brisbane and 11:00am in Adelaide) until 10:00 AM (AWST)

Venue: King & Wood Mallesons, QV.1 Building, Level 30/250 St Georges Terrace, Perth WA 6000.

The event will be set up for ‘in person attendees’, though given the interest from other parts of Australia, registrations will also be accepted ‘webinar style’ for ‘remote’ attendees.

Graeme Nuttall OBE, the former UK Government Independent Advisor on Employee Ownership who created the UK’s highly successful employee ownership policy framework will challenge our perceptions and share insights on:

  • The explosion of pro-employee ownership legislation worldwide
  • Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs) and their role in economic transformation in several economies
  • Why Australia is missing out on this success story

Provocative questions that will be explored include:

  • What we can learn from international experiences in employee ownership?
  • What kind of business structure would be needed for successful employee ownership in Australia?
  • What political and regulatory inhibitions are currently hindering the development of employee ownership in Australia?

Attendees will include Australian employees of businesses owned by UK EOTs, who can share their experience of this successful business model.

This event is a unique opportunity to engage with one of the world's leading experts on employee ownership and its potential to reshape our economic landscape. Challenge your assumptions and gain new perspectives on the future of work and business ownership. The roundtable will be of vital interest to all business owners, advisory services and policy makers.

For those attending in person, there will be breakfast provided before and networking after the roundtable.

The event will be hosted by King & Wood Mallesons and supported by Employee Ownership Australia

For background on the current situation in Australia and advocacy on the topic, a “Priority Reform Agenda” for employee ownership has been put before a range of politicians by Employee Ownership Australia in its recent Submission to the House of Representatives on Petition EN7712  entitled “ATO to provide Tax Guidelines for Employee Owned Trusts”. This submission is calling for the introduction of legislation to support EOTs in Australia.

Don't miss this chance to be part of a pivotal ‘in person’ conversation on employee ownership, the future of work and innovative business models in Australia (or you can attend via the webinar registration).
