Welcome to the July 2020 edition of the Nutrition Evidence alert.  I hope that you've been keeping healthy, happy and coping with the continued restrictions we are all facing.

The theme this month is the microbiome and its interplay with our immune systems. The science in this area continues to grow and inform our thinking.  It is clear that a disordered microbiome is associated with various immune system related diseases, so taking care of our gut bacteria is an important part of maintaining optimum health. The sophistication of microbiome testing also continues to increase, with more on offer to nutrition practitioners wishing to assess the health of their clients' gut health.

In the Blogspot this month, there is a feature from Optibac Probiotics on skin health and the potential role of probiotics. You can read the blogpost here.

Also this month the editorial team have chosen 7 papers as recommended reading on the microbiome, testing and the immune system.

And last, but not least, I'm delighted to announce the launch of an education and support programme on the microbiome by our partner Atlas Biomed, which you can find out about here.

In good health,

Miguel Toribio-Mateas, Editor-in-Chief
