Kia ora

The holidays are starting to seem like a distant memory now, but I hope you managed to get some down time during the Christmas/New Year break.

Works are continuing to progress well, although we’ve had a few delays in some areas as outlined below.

Weather allowing, all works (except for the Waikanae Bridge pedestrian/cycleway which is a separate contract) should be completed by the end of this month.

Take care and stay safe.

Works in progress

Sealing between Otaihanga roundabout and Waikanae Bridge
This work is underway, but is weather dependent. We anticipate short delays along this stretch of road over the next fortnight as our crew applies the final seal coat and line marking.

Works at the Elizabeth Street intersection
These works have been significantly delayed due to the requirement to obtain approval to work within the Kiwirail designation.  We worked hard to speed the process up, but – due to stringent safety procedures we have to comply with – there was no quick way of obtaining all necessary approvals and permits. However, our contractor Higgins now has permission to progress the works at this intersection and we anticipate they’ll be completed by the end of this month.

New traffic signals at Ngaio St
The new traffic signals at Ngaio St will be operating from 10am next Tuesday 14 February.  You’ll see our contractors in the area completing the remaining few tasks relating to this project, including testing the lights.

Please keep an eye out on social media and on-site signage for traffic management changes in these areas.  Our crews are working as hard as they can and appreciate your patience.

Waikanae Bridge pedestrian/cycleway

Unfortunately, there have been delays with obtaining some items for the bridge structure that will form the new pathway for pedestrians/cyclists over Waikanae River.

All enabling works (i.e. works that allow the construction of the structure to proceed such as changes to the bridge pier) underneath the existing structure have been completed.

As soon as the remaining items arrive, our crew will get back on-site to install all the pieces that make up the new structure.
