Latest Funding NewsTwo new major funding opportunities for Barnet VCFSEs The Barnet Together Partnership with our wider Alliance partner, Barnet Council, are delighted to announce two new funds for Barnet’s Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector, and to remind you of some other existing funding available to you. Barnet Community Fund Grants between £1,000 - £10,000 to help Barnet organisations provide additional support to existing projects. Deadline: Sunday 20 November, 23:39 Barnet Community Innovation Fund This autumn 2022, £240,000 is available for local, innovative project that focus on the cost of living crisis and its impact on health of our residents.
Deadline: Wednesday 30 November, 5pm Winter Festival Funding Barnet Council now accepting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for community groups to host Winter Festival events. These can be faith, cultural or community based. Groups must send the completed application to community@barnet.gov.uk at least four weeks before their event. If you have an event planned that you would like included in Barnet Council’s listings, please email it to: community@barnet.org.uk with the subject heading ‘Barnet Winter Festival Event Listing’ The Mayor of London's Skills for Londoners Community Outreach Programme This fund offers small grants of up to £9,000 for community groups to support outreach activity to engage Londoners who can benefit from adult learning, including ESOL, and refer them on to local opportunities. The fund is prioritising organisations that can reach Londoners without a Level 2 qualification or GCSEs, and digitally excluded Londoners. Of particular interest are applications from community groups working with no or low skilled Londoners in the following priority groups: disabled people, older people (50+), people with English language needs, black men especially those aged 19-24 and 50+, Pakistani and Bangladeshi women, black women and individuals arriving on new visa schemes including, arrivals from Afghanistan, Hong Kong, and Ukraine. London Community Foundation Together for London Fund The Together for London Fund is open now and offering grants of up to £10,000 each, with a pot of £1m. The fund aims to support organisations with cost of living initiatives. Deadline: Thursday 17 November, 12noon North London Waste Authority's North London Community Fund This fund provides community-based (non-profit making) organisations with funding to develop new approaches to reduce waste and/or extend the reach and impact of existing waste prevention activity in north London. With up to 100% funding of the project cost, support can be provided for projects up to £15,000 tackling a waste prevention problem, from an overall funding pot of £120,000.
Deadline for questions is the 28 November, with the final deadline for applications being 16 December 11pm. More information on the North London Community Fund

Sunday 6 November, 3:30pm-6:30pm Cost of Living Discussion for Barnet VCFSEs Given the current climate, we are inviting all Barnet Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprises (VCFSE) organisations who are supporting those living, working and studying in Barnet who are affected by the cost of living crisis. Join us for an online meeting, where we can discuss issues that are of concern to you, and for colleagues to share support available for both you as an organisation, and for individuals that you are supporting. This Safe by CST Event Security webinar offers advice on appropriate security measures to ensure the safety of large numbers of people. Tuesday 15 November, 10am-1pm Creating Volunteer Role Descriptions - Training for Volunteer Managers Learn how you can change your language and messaging to create engaging volunteer role descriptions, boost your engagement and appeal to different types of volunteers. This session will take place online on the Thursday 15 November from 1pm. Trustee Information Seminar Join Volunteering Barnet for this information session where we look at how you can become a trustee, what is involved in the role of a trustee, and why people choose to become trustees. We will have a speaker from Young Trustees Movement discussing their experience of becoming a trustee. Tuesday 29 November, 5pm – 6pm Social Model of Disability Training An interactive, exploratory training and discussion session free to Barnet VCFSE organisations delivered by Inclusion Barnet staff with lived experience, gives a compact but thought-provoking introduction to: • The origins and principles of the Social Model • Why the language we use to talk about disability matters • Barriers and how to avoid placing them Wednesday 30 November, 10:30 – 11:30 More information/book on our Social Model of Disability Training Brook new professionals' HIV training Sexual health and wellbeing experts at Brook are delivering HIV training to new professionals in the upcoming months. HIV Risk, Assessment and Prevention training on 19 December Understanding HIV Transmission, Testing & Treatment training on 16 January Working with people living with HIV training on 13 February Understanding Dementia training Dementia Club UK are providing a free, one-hour, CPD certified course on Understanding Dementia. Through the training, you and your organisation will become Dementia Champions, helping to make Barnet a Dementia Friendly Borough. There are multiple dates to choose from, and the course will be delivered on MS Teams and Zoom. Out Now: Homeless Link’s latest report, The Unhealthy State of Homelessness 2022 Homelessness has a devastating impact on people’s health and wellbeing, and understanding this is key to ensuring people are able to access the services and support they need, and to preventing people from becoming homeless in the first place. Next Steps programme to support mums returning to work Home-Start has developed a practical programme to help mums starting work or returning to employment, particularly those interested in working with children or families. The training will help them build their skills, knowledge and confidence. Available to mums living in Barnet, Brent, Enfield or Harrow. Meet the TeamCarter Weleminsky, Community & Faith Officer Carter joined Inclusion Barnet in April 2022 to work with communities and faith groups as part of the Barnet Together Partnership. He has formerly worked in a variety of interfaith roles at universities and charities. Carter has a background in research and has a PhD focused on acoustic ecology, diaspora and Jewish studies. He has a particular passion for supporting those from minority faith and belief groups, who often have less access to culturally or religiously appropriate support. Carter is always excited to hear from groups on projects they need support with, especially those focused on: community action; faith, culture and heritage; refugees and asylum seekers; community cohesion and interfaith; and other community led projects.
