Hi Through each year the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce asks businesses across the region to tell us how they are doing, how they think the business environment is looking for the future, and what areas of their business operations are keeping them awake at night. We completed our final 2021 Business Confidence Survey just recently and it is certainly a changing picture. Business confidence in earlier 2021 surveys have been relatively positive. However this survey is showing quite a change. Some of the key areas of change are: - Significant changes in the
businesses expecting their business, the Wellington region, and New Zealand to be impacted over the next 6-12 months
- Labour market is continuing to tighten with increasing labour turnover and businesses finding it harder to find specialist, skilled and unskilled employees
- Covid 19 continues to be a significant factor in driving how businesses feel about the future
- Increasing concern around supply chains and availability of raw materials for their business
It is not all bad though, with many businesses busier than ever. However, I would say there is a change in confidence on the horizon. You can read
more and get into the detailed responses in the newsletter below. If you would like to discuss any aspects of the survey or just provide some feedback please feel free to contact me at any time via email at patrick@hvchamber.org.nz or phone on 021 248 1203. Thanks Patrick McKibbin

Vaccination Milestone for the Upper Hutt
Great news for Upper Hutt with 90% of the eligible population now vaccinated. Lower Hutt City is nearly there too, at 89% double vaccination. Does your business need some help to get shift workers vaccinated? A local DHB recently held an all-night vaccination clinic for shift workers and successfully vaccinated some workers that had found it more challenging to get their vaccine. If this type of event might be of benefit to your business, please get in touch with patrick@hvchamber.org.nz and he will connect you to our local DHB to see how they can help.
