Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident or Family Member,

COVID-19 Update for residents & families of Calvary Sandhurst

Following our last update to residents and families, I am writing to advise that through the current testing regime, undertaken today, 19 January 2022, an additional resident has tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number in the current outbreak to six (6) including three (3) residents and three (3) staff.

Calvary Sandhurst open for restricted visitation.

What does this mean for residents and families?

Effective from Monday 10 January 2022, the following visitation access will apply:

  • One (1) single nominated visitor is permitted per resident. Children Under 12 are not permitted entry
  • Each family should nominate the visitor and notify the Home Manager of the name of the visitor
  • Visits are limited to one per day seven days a week between 10am and 4pm and must be booked at least one day in advance, to allow us to prepare for your visit
  • Visits are conducted within the resident’s room. Resident social outings are not permitted.
  • A visitor will be permitted subject to a negative Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on arrival Visitors must wear full PPE during their visit, which will be provided by the Home
  • A staff member will provide each visitor assistance in accessing, donning and doffing your PPE appropriately.

Residents will need to remain, and continue to be cared for, in their rooms.

We understand that it is very difficult for residents to be cared for in their rooms. Please be assured that our team will continue to ensure the holistic care needs of all residents are met and calls and video conferencing is available for loved ones to remain in contact.

Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, or who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the Manager of your Home to discuss arrangements.

Please be assured that our staff have prepared for COVID-19 exposures and outbreaks such as this. Our staff are trained in strict infection control procedures and are focusing all of their attention on the individual care needs of residents.

We will update you again as soon as any information becomes available.

We know that this will be worrying for you and your loved ones in our care. We want to assure you that we are doing everything possible to continue to look after the health and wellbeing of all our residents while keeping them safe during this difficult time.

You can help us by sharing this information with your family and friends

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience at this time.

Yours sincerely,

Dana IeraciGeneral Manager Aged Care
