Tākaka Hill road 1-night closure

Tākaka Hill road will be CLOSED overnight to all traffic, between Riwaka and Upper Tākaka, from 9pm Sunday 6 September to 5am Monday 7 September, for emergency barrier repair works.

This essential work is being carried out to ensure your safety while driving on the road, and the safety of our crew who are working beneath the damaged section of barrier at Site 11.

In the event of bad weather, this work will be carried out the following night, Monday 7 September, from 9pm–5am.

While we encourage people to avoid the road during this 1-night closure, the road will open for essential travel at 1.30am (Tākaka to Nelson) and 1.45am (Nelson to Tākaka).

Emergency services will be able to use the road at all times.

We appreciate your patience as we work to get your road back up and running.
