King Edward Street road closure for Motueka

From Monday 1 November the entry into and out of King Edward Street, Motueka, at the High Street end, will be closed for six weeks.

As we move to the next two stages of the Old Wharf Road, King Edward Street, and High Street roundabout construction, teams will be moving across the road to build the western half of the roundabout near the Clock Tower and Department of Conservation building.

The first stage of construction, building the eastern half of the roundabout has gone very well.

We did look at keeping the entrance and exit of King Edward Street open during the next two stages, but to keep our crew and the public safe, we need to close the road from the High Street end. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause people.

A detour will be in place for people wanting to get into King Edward or Queen Victoria Streets. The detour will be via Wildman Road, Queen Victoria Street, and Whakarewa Street.

As we continue to complete the roundabout and traffic signal work on High Street, there are upcoming night works too.

Night works at the roundabout site
From Sunday, 14 November there will be night works at the Old Wharf / King Edward / High Street intersection for six weeks. Our teams will be on the job between 6pm and 6am from Sunday through to Thursday nights. This works will involve Stop/Go traffic management on High Street.  We will also be using electronic signs to advertise the works in advance of the site.

Night works for the Pah/Greenwood/High Street intersection and Wallace/ High Street intersection
From Sunday 31 October, Waka Kotahi will start five weeks of night works to begin pavement construction and road re-surfacing at the Pah/Greenwood/High Street and Wallace/High Street intersections. Our teams will be on the job between 6pm and 6am from Sunday through to Thursday nights. Stop/Go traffic management will be in place on High Street. There will be some short road closures and detours will be in place while we complete the work.

We ask everyone to take care as travelling through the site as layouts and directions will continue to change as work progresses.
