Camp Cotton returns to the Namoi Valley connecting brands with Australian cotton growers

Camp Cotton has returned to Narrabri this week, with Cotton Australia hosting a three-day immersive event for 50 delegates from leading international and Australian fashion brands, retailers and NGOs.

The program began with the Australian Natural Fibres Forum in Sydney before moving to the Namoi Valley, where delegates from 18 countries gained a first-hand look at how cotton is grown in Australia and the research, innovation and sustainability practices behind the industry.

Cotton Australia backs push to strengthen safeguards against CSG

Cotton Australia has urged the Queensland Parliament to amend proposed legislation it says would weaken landholders’ negotiating rights and reduce safeguards for land and water resources in the Darling Downs in the face of coal seam gas (CSG) activity.

Cotton Australia has made a detailed submission to the inquiry and appeared before the committee alongside the Queensland Farmers’ Federation.

2027 Nuffield Scholarships close next week

A reminder that applications for the 2027 Nuffield Scholarships close on Friday 8 May 2026. 

The Nuffield program provides the opportunity for people involved in the food and fibre industries to undertake a global research program. Each scholarship provides a $40,000 bursary to study an industry‑relevant topic, with around 15 weeks of structured learning, international travel.

Australia’s world-leading cotton and wool industries joined forces to host the inaugural Australian Natural Fibres Forum, attracting almost 250 representatives from leading global and Australian brands including Adidas, J.Crew, R.M. Williams, Sportscraft, MJ Bale, Alemais, RB Sellars, Cotton On Group and Rodd & Gunn.

Co-hosted by Cotton Australia and Woolmark, the forum brought together growers, researchers, supply-chain partners and industry leaders to strengthen the future of natural fibres.
