Message from your Mayor
June has been another busy and positive month for Cardinia Shire, with Council making important decisions that will help guide how our community grows and thrives.
At our recent Council meeting, our 2026–27 Budget was adopted, which focuses on maintaining our assets, delivering key upgrades, ensuring services remain accessible, and planning responsibly for future growth across all parts of the shire. Council also endorsed an updated Revenue and Rating Plan, following extensive community consultation, supporting a fairer and more equitable approach.
We also marked a significant milestone, celebrating 10 years of Council’s Integrated Water Management Plan, with 91% of actions delivered and our aspirational water target achieved. Work is now underway on the next plan, and the community will be invited to have their say in the year ahead.
Earlier this month, we proudly recognised National Reconciliation Week, taking time to reflect, learn and strengthen our shared commitment to reconciliation — an important part of building a respectful and inclusive community for everyone.

The 2026-27 Budget is here!
Our 2026–27 Budget focuses on what matters most to our community, including delivering essential services, maintaining local infrastructure and planning for future growth.
We’re investing $143.8 million into our service delivery, and are proud to be investing $66.3 million to deliver projects and upgrades.
We've also adopted our updated Revenue and Rating Plan to set how rates are distributed across property types and support greater equity and fairness across the shire.
New funding supports Koo Wee Rup Biolink project
Council has welcomed Victorian Government funding to support vital biodiversity and environmental works in Koo Wee Rup.
The $200,000 grant from the Victorian Government’s Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) will help deliver the Koo Wee Rup Biolink project.

The flow on effect
From taps to waterways, our Integrated Water Management Plan has improved the way water is used and managed across our community.
Ten years after introducing our first Integrated Water Management Plan, we’re proud to have achieved our aspirational water target and 91% of the actions we set.
Care Finder service provider update
New Care Finder providers are now available to support local older residents, with free, face‑to‑face help to access aged care and community services.

What's on
Register for our next recycling event!
Register now for our next Drive and Drop event to safely recycle items like small e‑waste, polystyrene, soft plastics, textiles and bulky cardboard.
The event is free to Cardinia Shire residents and bookings are essential.
Coffee with Community
As part of our Safer Communities Partnership Committee, Victoria Police and Council are hosting our upcoming ‘Coffee with Community and Safe Plate Day’ pop-up event in Heritage Springs, Pakenham!
Come down for a free coffee and talk to us about how we can all work together to make a safer community.

Building a Better Cardinia
Game-changing upgrades at Cora Lynn Recreation Reserve
We’ve redeveloped the Cora Lynn Recreation Reserve’s changerooms, also installing new public toilets, a new timekeepers building and an equipment shed!
Pakenham Revitalisation: final works underway
Final Stage 1 upgrades are underway around the Main Street Gateway precinct. We’re currently installing a new roundabout, landscaping, lighting, new crossings, seating and final pavement works to help reimagine this space.
Access has temporarily changed around the town centre, however local businesses are still open, and traffic controllers are onsite to help you get around.
On track: Bunyip BMX upgrades
We’re currently upgrading the Bunyip Sanctuary BMX track!
Works are almost complete and we’re excited to welcome riders back to the track in the coming weeks!
Boardwalk bridge opens at Gembrook Park
We've completed upgrade works on a boardwalk bridge at Gembrook Park! A new extended timber bridge has replaced the existing structure and the parking area along Harewood Park Road has also been updated, making it easier for residents to access this park.
