BURNLEY'S VINTAGE & PERFORMANCE CAR SHOW RETURNS IN TWO WEEKS: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Burnley's Vintage & Performance Car Show returns on Saturday 12th September from 11am - 4pm,  bringing a fantastic line-up of vintage, classic and performance cars and motorcycles to St James’s Street and Curzon Street.

For businesses in Burnley, the event is a great opportunity to welcome increased footfall into the town centre and make the most of a busy Saturday. Visitors can enjoy live hosting and entertainment from Radio 4 Burnley, meet the Cheshire Transformers, and take part in free family activities including face painting and crazy golf.

There’s also the Car Show Road Trip Trail, giving visitors the chance to explore shops across the town centre, answer questions in participating shop windows and be in with a chance of winning a £50 gift voucher.

Organised by Burnley BID, with support from the Rotary Club, the event is set to bring a lively atmosphere to the town and encourage visitors to explore Burnley’s independent businesses, cafés, bars and restaurants.

Have a vintage, classic or performance car or motorcycle? Vehicle registration is still open, so there’s still time to get involved and showcase your vehicle.

BURNLEY 2027 YEAR OF CULTURE: OPPORTUNITIES FOR BUSINESSES TO GET INVOLVED

Burnley Leisure and Culture is inviting local businesses and organisations to support Burnley 2027 Year of Culture, an ambitious programme of cultural activity taking place across the borough over the next two years.

The programme will bring together festivals, performances, public art, heritage, creative learning and community activity across all 15 wards. Alongside delivering a year of memorable events and experiences, Burnley 2027 aims to build pride in the borough, create opportunities for local people and young people, attract visitors and investment, and raise Burnley’s profile regionally and nationally.

Burnley Leisure and Culture has currently secured £800,000 towards a projected £1.5 - £2 million programme, with further support now being sought from businesses and organisations.

There are a number of ways to get involved, including becoming a Burnley 2027 partner or sponsor, supporting individual programmes and events, or providing in-kind support.

One potential partnership currently being explored is with global events producer Fever, which could bring experiences such as Candlelight Concerts and immersive and interactive events to Burnley. These types of experiences are typically associated with major cities, offering an opportunity for businesses to support high-profile cultural activity coming to the borough.

Sponsorship and exclusive-access opportunities are available, with expressions of interest required by Friday 11th September.

Businesses interested in finding out more about Burnley 2027, the current sponsorship opportunities or ways to provide support can contact Burnley Leisure and Culture to discuss potential opportunities.

FREE TRAINING TO HELP MAKE PUBLIC SPACES SAFER

The Suzy Lamplugh Trust is marking its 40th anniversary this year, alongside 40 years since Suzy Lamplugh’s disappearance. As part of its ongoing work to tackle stalking, harassment and abuse, the Trust is encouraging more people to learn how they can safely support others experiencing harassment in public spaces.

The Trust has partnered with L’Oréal Paris to deliver the Stand Up Against Street Harassment training programme across the UK. Developed by international NGO Right To Be, the free bystander intervention training gives participants practical tools to recognise harassment and safely step in or support someone who may be experiencing it.

More than 29,000 people across the UK have already completed the training.

Upcoming online sessions include:

  • 8th September: 12pm - 12.30pm
  • 15th September: 1pm - 1.30pm
  • 17th September: 1.30pm - 2pm
  • 22nd September: 1pm - 1.30pm
  • 24th September: 1.30pm - 2pm

With research showing that 80% of women in the UK have experienced harassment in public spaces, and 75% of harassment victims reporting that no one helped, the training provides an opportunity for individuals and businesses to build confidence in responding safely and appropriately.

You can sign up via the link below and businesses are encouraged to share the training opportunity with colleagues and teams.
