16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
Every year from Nov. 25 to Dec. 10, people all over the world observe the 
16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. During these 16 days, Carleton will share a variety of resources, information, stories and videos to help grow awareness about this issue and encourage everyday activism and commitment to ending gender-based violence.

Important Deadlines
Nov. 30 is the last day for receipt of applications from potential winter (February) graduates. Dec. 1 is the last day for graduate students to submit their supervisor-approved thesis in examinable form to the department.

Carleton Security and Intelligence Researcher Recognized with Prestigious SSHRC Award

Carleton University’s Jessica Davis, PhD Candidate in the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (NPSIA) has received the prestigious $50,000 Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Talent Impact Award.
Davis received the award for her vital ongoing work in counter-terrorism, intelligence, and Canadian national security.

Dates & Deadlines!

Nov. 30, 2023
Last day for receipt of applications from potential winter (February) graduates.

Dec. 1, 2023

  • Last day for graduate students to submit their supervisor-approved thesis in examinable form to the department.

  • Last day for summative tests or examinations or formative tests or examinations totaling more than 15% of the final grade in the late fall before the official examination period.

Dec. 8, 2023

  • Last day to pay any remaining fall tuition fees to avoid a hold on access to marks through Carleton Central and the release of transcripts and other official documents.

  • Fall term ends.

  • Last day of full fall and late fall term classes.

  • Last day for take home examinations to be assigned.

Dec. 10-22, 2023

  • Final examinations in full fall and late fall term courses and mid-term examinations in fall/winter courses will be held.

The 2024 Carleton University Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition Is On!

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) at Carleton is a university-wide competition for graduate students in which participants present their research and its wider impact in 3 minutes or less to a panel of non-specialist judges. The challenge is to present complex research in an accessible and compelling way, with the assistance of only one static slide. Check out last year's competition here! An information session will be held on Zoom on Friday, Dec. 8, 2023 at 2 p.m. The Carleton 3MT competition will be held in person in March 2024.

First place: $1,000
Second place: $500
Third place: $250

OGS Referee Assessments – Deadline: Dec. 1
A friendly reminder OGS referee assessments are due Dec. 1, 2023. Applicants are responsible for ensuring referee assessments are submitted by the deadline and can monitor the status of the submissions in their application on Carleton Central. If your referees are having issues accessing the online form, please email Jenna McConnell (jenna.mcconnell@carleton.ca).

Canada Graduate Scholarship Master’s Program (CGSM) Deadline Dec. 1, 2023 before 8:00PM EST

Carleton's Psychology Wellness Centre is a virtual centre staffed by psychology graduate students who are trained peer wellness coaches. Writing Support by CSAS

Join the Centre for Student Academic Support (CSAS) this Fall 2023 term for their Academic Writing for English Language Learners sessions on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Pick and choose the session that works for you or join all of them! 

Next session on Dec. 6, 2023 will be open topic. This is the last session before the holiday break. Sessions are available both virtually and in person at 402 MacOdrum Library. For questions, email: csas@carleton.ca 

 

Pathy Foundation Fellowship - Applications Due Jan. 5, 2024

The Pathy Foundation Fellowship is an intensive 12-month experiential learning opportunity for graduating students to lead a self-directed project in a community they have a meaningful connection with. Fellows are provided with comprehensive training, personal and professional development coaching, up to $40,000 in funding, and wrap-around supports to design, plan, and implement an innovative project in their community. This year-long Fellowship is designed for students who show a demonstrated capacity and potential to develop and evolve as leaders and change makers and have a meaningful connection with a community of their choosing.

Applications for Cohort 9 of the Pathy Foundation Fellowship are open until Jan. 5, 2024.
