Supporting physician leadership to improve health care in BC

An investment in training gives physician leaders the skills and confidence to manage, lead teams and collaborate with partners—which ultimately contributes to and impacts health system change. Through the Specialist Services Committee, physicians discover, explore, and expand their personal leadership abilities and individual paths, while helping to improve the health care environment for patients and providers.

Learning & Skill-building

Advanced Access & Office Efficiency for community-based specialists

The Specialist Services Committee (SSC), in collaboration with the Practice Support Program (PSP), invites you to participate in an informative, interactive virtual learning series developed to illustrate how Advanced Access can benefit a practice.

The series takes place from 6:30pm–8:30pm on January 11, January 30, and February 28, 2023. It will be co-hosted by Dr Marshall Dahl, Clinical Professor and Head, Endocrinology, UBC; PSP Practice Improvement Coach Meg Cybak; and PSP Health Technology Coach Danielle Zhou.

Space is limited and participating physicians should be using Plexia or Oscar EMRs. Series will consist of three, one-and-a-half-hour sessions that both physicians and their MOAs should attend.

SSC is providing physicians and their MOAs 15 hours worth of payment (at the current JCC sessional rate) for participation in the development and implementation of a tailored facilitated action plan with PSP. Compensation rate for MOAs’ participation is set at $25/hr.

IHI's Creating Workforce Joy and Well-Being

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) partnered with experts around the world to develop Creating Workforce Joy and Well-Being (formerly, Finding and Creating Joy in Work), beginning March 8, 2023. This ​​online course with coaching is full of new thinking, resources, strategies, frameworks​, and solutions will help workforces truly thrive — not just survive. ​

This online course includes six weeks of biweekly video content, three all-learner calls, and an opportunity for added coaching​. Funding for registration is available through the Specialist Services Committee and Shared Care Committee’s Physician Leadership Scholarship Program (PLSP).
