New National Resources to Address
Gender-Based Violence
focusing on
Law Enforcement and
Domestic Violence Homicide
At the intersection of critical justice priorities—support for America’s law enforcement, gender-based crimes (including homicide), and the national violence epidemic— practitioners now have new opportunities for tailored assistance. Join us for a webinar on February 24, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., ET, and add these Office on Violence Against Women (OVW)-supported resources—DV RISC and LETTAC—to your strategies to advance safety, justice, and healing for victims and survivors in your communities. This event is free and open to the public.
As leaders, practitioners, and advocates strengthening responses to Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and intimate partner violence (IPV)-related incidents in your jurisdictions, neighborhoods, Tribes, and the country, you know that in the landscape of our country's violence, these crimes can be the most dangerous to victims and perilous to responding law enforcement. With support from OVW and in pursuit of our national commitment to ensure a culture where we are all safe, empowered, and free from domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, two
new comprehensive initiatives are available to advance solutions and success for you and your colleagues.
The Center for Court Innovation’s Domestic Violence Resource for Increasing Safety and Connection (DV RISC) is designed to help jurisdictions enhance their approaches to reducing risk and preventing homicide in IPV cases. DV RISC can assist your multidisciplinary teams in developing or enhancing their domestic violence homicide prevention efforts by: - Connecting with subject-matter experts (SMEs), training and technical assistance (TTA) providers, and culturally specific organizations.
- Facilitating
strategic planning.
- Providing more information on risk and/or lethality assessment tools.
- Supporting peer-to-peer learning.
Multidisciplinary teams that include police, prosecutors, victim advocates, and others now have a centralized resource to access tools, training, and SMEs to help them identify and work with victims who are at risk of being killed.
LETTAC is dedicated to helping all members of the law enforcement family—including prosecutors, civilian staff, and call center personnel—respond to, investigate, prosecute, and ensure accountability for VAWA and IPV-related crimes. LETTAC: Serving Victims by Supporting Law Enforcement.
During this no-cost, open-to-the-public event, we look forward to sharing how DV RISC and LETTAC can support you, your projects, your partners and stakeholders, and your communities in addressing gender-based violence.
