Inspire recyclers of the future
for Recycle Week 2023

Defra is proud to support Recycle Week 2023 (16 to 22 October) and  champion recycling at home and within school communities.

Recycle Week is Recycle Now’s flagship annual event, celebrating recycling across England and Northern Ireland. Recycle Now has developed educational resources to engage with five to 11-year-olds in this year’s theme, The Big Recycling Hunt.

The campaign has a big focus on encouraging children and families to join the hunt to find ‘lost recyclables’ that often end up in the rubbish bin. Items commonly missed from recycling, include empty aerosols, plastic cleaning product bottles, plastic toiletry bottles, plastic pots and tubs and food tins.

Please do get involved by talking about recycling in your communities this Recycling Week. You can encourage schools in your area to register for more information here. Further details can also be found on the Recycle Week collection page.
