Click here Almost 70 people came together in a spirit of mutual respect and enthusiasm at Cummins on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula on Sunday, for the first face-to-face gathering of the Preparation and Prayer phase of the LCANZ’s Way Forward project. The meetings, which are being held in the coming weeks across all districts of the church, offer attendees the chance to hear a presentation about the Way Forward Framework to be voted on by General Synod in October, as well as the opportunity to discuss the information and ask questions, all in a setting of prayer and worship. Read more NEW TELSTRA OFFER FOR CONGREGATIONS New Australian Lutheran church body established On Monday 22 July, the General Church Board (GCB) and the College of Bishops (CoB) notified LCANZ pastors and congregational leaders that a new Lutheran church body called Lutheran Mission – Australia (LM-A) has been established. Pastor Matt Anker, who has been serving the LCANZ as Assistant to the Bishop – International Mission, has accepted a call from LM-A to be its inaugural pastor-president. Read more Synod lunch service volunteers needed If you have a heart for serving people, can be in Adelaide during General Synod and/or General Pastors Conference later this year and don’t already have a role at these events, then your help is needed – particularly at lunchtimes. Volunteers are needed to help the caterers to serve lunch to attendees at both events, while assistance is also needed with a range of other tasks before, during and after the churchwide gatherings. Explore a culture that prioritises encouragement, inspiration and mission activities by joining next month's collaborative Zoom gathering. Hosted by LCANZ district mission directors on 20 August, the session is for anyone eager to explore our shared mission. Learn more and register here. A joint initiative of ALC and Lutheran pastors, the event will encourage those involved in Bible reading, ushering, lay reading, music, giving children's talks and lay preaching. Read more here. After decades supporting Lutheran nurses around the country, the Lutheran Nurses Association of Australia (LNAA) is to close. This was the unanimous decision of members at the May meeting. Its funds have been transferred to support pastoral care nursing. Read more here.
