Skippers Lane weekly update

Story
Story

Kia ora koutou

Welcome to your weekly update for Skippers Lane. These will be brief summaries of the construction planned for Skippers Lane in the following week as part of the SH10 Waipapa Corridor Improvements project.

Kerb preparation and pouring - shopfront side

Kerb preparation will happen on Thursday and Friday next week on the western/shopfront side of Skippers Lane.

Thursday’s work will have minimal impact but on Friday crews will be preparing the kerb base using a grader and this will take out parking in front of the shops until the kerb concrete is poured. Parking will be available on the eastern side of the lane.

The concrete pour for the kerb on the shopfront side is booked for Saturday 26 September (weather dependent). The pour will be done from north to south, with an early start to minimise disruption.

The machine will be in front of each business for around 15 minutes at a time and steel plates will be installed immediately to ensure ease of access.

Unfortunately it is not an option to do the pour on a Sunday as the concrete isn’t available.

Catchpit installation outside Pioneer

Two catchpits will be installed near the Pioneer on Monday. This work may run into Tuesday morning.

Nightworks next week

Some road pavement and kerb preparation work on Skippers Lane will be done overnight early next week.

Coming up

The footpath on the shopfront side of Skippers Lane will be laid in sections beginning late September or early October. We will provide more details closer to the time.

Kerb establishment on the eastern side of the lane will get underway in early to mid-October. This work will include the permanent closure of vehicle access from Skippers Lane to Waipapa Loop Road.
