SH1 Weld Pass safety improvements

Last month, we shared our planned improvements for preventing deaths and serious injuries on SH1 through Weld Pass. 

The community had the chance to share their thoughts online or at several locations around Blenheim. We received feedback from 31 people that included some valuable insights. Some of the key issues raised included:

• Spaces for slower vehicles to pull over
• Cyclist safety
• Road quality
• Motorcyclist safety

Next steps

We’ll consider these issues, along with feedback from landowners, iwi and others who live in the area or use this road, to inform our final design of the safety improvements.
