New hope for chronic back pain

An interdisciplinary team at the Bone and Joint Institute, led by Schulich professors Cheryle Séguin and Lauren Flynn, is developing a biomaterial-based stem cell therapy to rebuild damaged spinal discs and offer new hope for people living with chronic back pain.

Telenovela Archives exhibit
Explore this multi-floor exhibit in the FIMS & Nursing Building tracing the history of Latin American TV from 1950 to 1999. The exhibition introduces the telenovela phenomenon in its historical context and is open for self-guided viewing throughout the fall and winter terms.

Holiday market
Take a break and stroll through huts filled with sweet treats, savoury bites, festive finds and free hot chocolate during Western’s first-ever holiday market at the top of UC Hill. Snap a photo with Santa, dance at the Silent Night Disco or warm up by the bonfire.

Dec. 10 (5 to 7 p.m.)
Art Thrive: Fire | Moving Light
Enjoy a performance by artist Michelle Wilson and the Coves Collective, view a series of films from the Small File Media Festival and create an ornament using vintage view-master reels. Open to everyone, this free drop-in event is part of a series exploring the elements – earth, wind, fire and water. McIntosh Gallery.

Dec. 11 (2 to 3 p.m.)
Microsoft CoPilot session
Join Western Technology Services for an overview on how a licensed version of CoPilot can simplify daily admin tasks and generate and summarize content across Word, Outlook, Teams and Excel. You’ll also learn how to craft prompts for accurate results, evaluate AI output and apply responsible AI practices. Register online.
