We’re kicking off the year with important information about planned works across the region’s state highways over the coming week. Read on to find out what’s happening and how it may affect your journey. State Highway 3 – Awakino to New PlymouthRoad closure – SH3 Ahititi to Uruti, 16-20 January Road closure in place from 12.01am on Friday 16 January to 11.59pm on Tuesday 20 January. The closure will be in place between Okau Road in Ahititi and the Uruti Community Hall, with only residents, workers and business customers in the area given access, where available, from Uruti. Within the road closure is the culvert worksite. There will be no access through the culvert worksite for any vehicles during the 5-day 24/7 road closure. Road workers will also be positioned at Urenui and Piopio to direct road users. Please plan ahead, travel early, or use SH4 or SH1 as alternative state highway routes. These highways are suitable for High Productivity Motor Vehicles (HPMV), including freight. The backup date for this work is 23 to 27 January. Stop/go traffic management with a 30km/h speed restriction is currently in place at the worksite between 6am and 6pm. For more info: nzta.govt.nz/sh3-mangapepeke-culvert-replacement SH3 Mimi River: The road rebuild north of Mimi Road will now take place from 19 January to 13 February under stop/go traffic management. Expect delays of 10 to 15 minutes Prior to the rebuild we need to complete some maintenance work in the area. This started on 9 January and will take approximately 2-3 days to complete (weather permitting). Stop/go traffic management is in place with delays of 5-10 minutes. SH3 Uruti: The road rebuild between Uruti and Mangahia Roads will now take place in February. We will provide an update once the dates are confirmed. SH3 Tongapōrutu: Underslip repairs are underway until mid-January (weather permitting). Stop/go traffic management is in place. Road will be open to 2 lanes of traffic during Christmas/New Year period. Expect delays of 5 to 10 minutes. |

State Highway 3ASH3A Inglewood: Following the completion of the southern rebuild, the northern rebuild is underway until 5 February, Monday to Saturday, between 6am and 6pm. Stop/go traffic management will be in place, with delays of 10 to 15 minutes.. |

State Highway 43SH43 Stratford: Resealing will take place between Ariel Street and Beaconsfield Road from Tuesday 13 January for 2 to 3 days, weather permitting. Work will run from 7am to 7pm under stop/go traffic management, with delays of around 10 to 15 minutes. SH43 Pongahuru Stream Bridge: The bridge will be closed to agricultural and heavy vehicles from 7am on 14 January to 6pm on 17 January, and again from 7am on 22 January to 6pm on 25 January. Cars and other light vehicles can still use the bridge during these times. A signposted detour will be in place via SH4, Ohura Road, and Mangaparo Road, adding about 17 minutes to travel time to and from Taumarunui. Stop/go controls will remain in place at the bridge, with delays of up to 5 minutes for light vehicles during the closures. All work is expected to be completed by the end of February. |
