Canterbury Golf News 82nd CANTERBURY GOLF AGMOn Thursday the 28th of September the 82nd Canterbury Golf AGM was held. As well as the standard constitutional requirements being undertaken the 2022/2023 Annual Report was also presented. GOLF NZ DELIVERS CANTERBURY CLUBS DOTGOLF WORKSHOP On the 6th of September Golf NZ and DotGolf staff delivered an interactive DotGolf workshop for Canterbury Golf clubs. It was pleasing to see 17 different clubs represented on the day as they were taken through a DotGolf 101 helping them to understand the key products that could help clubs streamline their operations and as well as access more support. WOMBLES CANTERBURY CHAPTER | SUPPORT FOR JUNIOR GOLF Canterbury Golf would like to recognise the Wombles Canterbury Chapter which has donated funds towards this season's Junior Order of Merit. The Wombles were established in 2022 as organisation with two main purposes, the first to run golf days that support the region's rural clubs and the second to support junior golf in the region. Members sign up annually and their membership fee goes towards the green fees for each of their golf days providing a good profit for the clubs they attend, additionally, the funds and money they raise they then donate to Canterbury Golf to go towards junior golf. CANTERBURY REPRESENTATIVE GOLF CALENDAR IN FULL SWING The Canterbury Rep calendar is in the thick of the 2023 action with four different representative events taking place over the last month or so. See below the wrap on all of these events. CANTERBURY VS AORANGI - 17 SEPTEMBER The annual Canterbury vs. Aorangi fixture was played at Ashburton Golf Club in mid-September with more players involved than ever. Both the Women’s and Master’s Men’s events were expanded to 10-person teams to allow both provinces to provide opportunities for a wider group of representative players to be involved. The men’s and Junior’s categories maintained their 8-man and 4-man teams respectively meaning there was a total of 32 Canterbury players involved, including 11 debuts. Read more below. MASTERS SOUTH ISLAND INTERPROVINCIAL | 30 SEPT - 1 OCT The annual Masters South Island Interprovincial tournament was held over the 30 September - 1 October weekend in Ashburton featuring 6-man teams from all South Island District Associations. The Canterbury men had a great weekend with 4 wins from 4 to reclaim the title for the first time since 2019. Read more below. NZ GIRLS & BOYS INTERPROVINCIAL TOURNAMENTS | 2 - 6 OCT The annual Girls and Boys Interprovincial tournaments were held last week in Rotorua and Cambridge respectively. In a great effort, both teams achieved a podium finish with the Boys in 3rd place and the Girls taking out the title for the first time since 2014. Read more below. INTERCLUB - RECENT RESULTS WOODWARD & POLLOCK CUP SEMI-FINALISTS FOUND Following the final round-robin matches last weekend the semi-finalists for the Woodward and Pollock Cup have been confirmed. View how the season table changed below. WOODWARD CUP, BLANK CUP AND POLLOCK CUP SALVERS Last Sunday's Interclub saw the awarding of the individual salvers for the Woodward Cup, Blank Cup, and Pollock Cup competition recognising the best individual performances throughout round-robin play. The winners were as follows: Stan Rich Salver (Woodward Cup) - Ryan Bellamy (Templeton) 8 wins and a half from 9 matches. O'Malley Salver (Blank Cup) - Ollie Partridge (Waimairi Beach) 8 wins from 9 matches. Merle Barley Salver (Pollock Cup) - Lyn Robertson and Deanna Matthews (Waimairi Beach) 5 wins from 5 matches. INTERCLUB - RECENT RESULTS MILLENNIUM TROPHY
The Annual Women's Millennium Trophy match between Aorangi and Canterbury was held at Hororata Golf Club recently, and for the first time in the competition's 23-year history, Canterbury has won the trophy. Read more below. NEW BOYLE CUP CHAMPIONS
On the 15th of September Hawarden defeated Boyle Cup holders Scargill 3-2 in a very close match with the result only being decided on the final hole. Read more below.
