Hello Quakers!

Welcome to the official first day of New Student Orientation (NSO)! Below you'll find more information about today's events. Events marked [MANDATORY] are events that you must attend.

For today’s weather, we’re expecting a partly cloudy day with a high of 81 degrees. Make sure to stay hydrated by stopping by at our Hospitality Booths for some cold drinks!

If you have any questions or would like to know more information about any of the NSO programs, look for our well-trained volunteers, the Peers Helping Integrate New Students (PHINS), all around campus in light blue and dark blue t-shirts.

PennTracks: Center City and
University City & West Philly Tours

PennTracks Tours are free guided tours led by our PHINS student leaders throughout the city of Philadelphia for our first-year students and second-year students. Read more about PennTracks Tours and sign up below! Since all PennTracks Tours will be happening at the same time, please only sign up for one slot. 

Preceptorials

Engage with Penn faculty, staff, and students in these one-time educational sessions. Preceptorials showcase the cultural, social, and academic richness of our shared community as well as highlight topics on civic engagement, wellness, and the arts in Philadelphia. Introduction To Penn’s Vibrant Cultural Resource Centers

Irvine Auditorium | 1pm-2pm

The college student experience is exciting because it is so multifaceted, ranging from academics and co-curricular engagement to residential life and alumni mentorship. Penn’s ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging is reflected within each of these facets. Our Cultural Resource Centers represent that commitment, offering a vibrant array of intercultural experiences, transformative learning opportunities, and meaningful leadership development, as students learn about themselves, their peers, and the diverse communities in which they exist. Come learn from students and staff about how these spaces enrich students’ lives. 

Penn Parent Orientation Panel: Meet The Experts

Irvine Auditorium | 2:30pm-3:30pm

Penn experts will provide an overview of resources available to students and how parents can help their students succeed at Penn. Information covered will include housing, academics, safety, health, and finances.

President and Provost’s First-Year Family Welcome

College Hall | 4pm-4:45pm

First-year families join President Magill and Provost John Jackson at the steps of College Hall for their official Welcome to Penn; light refreshments served.

[MANDATORY] College House Meetings And Activities For Students Only

Various Locations | 7:30pm

Attendance is required for mandatory College House meetings and activities with House staff. Check with your RA, House Coordinator, or House Director for more information.

New Student Orientation Schedule is Live!

The NSO schedule is packed with events that prepare you for your Penn career! Take a peek at the programs you can look forward to for this week on our website! If you have any questions, be sure to reach out to your PHINS Orientation Leader who will guide you through the week. 

TAP Phase Two is Live!

TAP Phase Two is officially live!

You will not be required to complete a quiz during this phase of TAP. However, this content must be reviewed prior to your mandatory in-person PHINS Orientation Group Meet-Ups and NSO programming where attendance will be taken. Failure to attend these small group activities could result in a registration hold being placed on your student record.

Dining Café Hours For

Dining café hours throughout the week of NSO can be viewed through the Penn Dining website here. The options for today are listed below. 

LUNCH FOR STUDENTS & FAMILIES
Location: Hill & 1920 Commons Dining Cafés: 11am–4:30pm.
Locations: Lauder, Kings Court English (Halal available) & Falk Hillel (Kosher available): 11am-2pm

DINNER FOR STUDENTS & FAMILIES
Locations: Hill & 1920 Commons Lauder, Kings Court English (Halal available) Dining Cafés: 5pm-8pm
Locations: Falk Hillel (Kosher available): 5pm-7pm
