In this edition we have included some of our shiny new resources to suit the beginning of a new school year and an outline of our refreshed professional development opportunities. You may have seen our beautiful building in the news recently. To those of you who have reached out, we appreciated your kind messages. You can read our open letter from MoAD Director Daryl Karp here. We are delighted to share that we are open for school group visits and are excited to welcome students and teachers back to the museum. We have recommenced our engaging and high-quality facilitated programs utilising the chambers and our fantastic workshop space. All of our programs continue to meet Curriculum and PACER requirements. We can’t wait to continue the conversation with students about how young people can be involved in our democracy. The current Behind the Lines exhibition is a vision in lilac. All of our political cartoons resources have been recently updated and are ready for you and your students to jump in and explore! It’s wonderful to have you in our MoAD Learning community. If we can help you and your students in any way, please be in touch. MoAD Learning A letter to MoAD's visitors, supporters and friendsDaryl Karp AM, Director of the Museum of Australian Democracy Dear friends of MoAD, On December 30 2021, a fire was deliberately lit at the front doors of Old Parliament House, causing substantial damage to the doors, the front steps, thethe building façade and the interiors. The image of police and firefighters framed by the blackened entry is indelibly etched in my mind. Though I am truly devastated at these events, it is now time to consider how to move forward... While the events of the last few weeks have been tragic, I can assure you that the MoAD community is stronger than ever...' We invite you to read MoAD Director Daryl Karp's complete response here.

Global Citizenship Ambassador Program OpportunityMeg are currently offering several places to non-Meg schools on their 2022 Global Citizenship Ambassador Program. This is a national program, Years 5/6 upwards, where schools nominate two Global Citizenship Ambassadors to take part in the free one year program. Ambassadors will work alongside students from other schools across Australia on a personalised project they select that builds a whole school culture on an aspect of Global Citizenship. Meetings with the program facilitators are twice a term and both students and school educators have access to supportive resources. Students will also be asked to liaise with their own student communities as school representatives and, in doing so, build their leadership skills. A great opportunity, with limited free places. Early applicants are given priority. Find out more and sign up here. Places are limited.
