Barnet VCFSE Environmental Network
If you've not joined us yet, then do email Ellen. Our networking sessions are casual and friendly but jam-packed with vital information tailored to those working in the Barnet Voluntary, Community, Faith & Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector. We discuss environmental issues in the Borough and work out how we can make a difference.
We're having a month off in August, so look out for dates in Autumn. This networking group will raise awareness of environmental projects that are happening across the Borough, help to establish partnerships and joint initiatives, and seek funding opportunities. If you have any topics you would like to raise/discuss at future meetings, do
let Ellen know. We can't wait to see you there! FOR PAST E-NEWSLETTERS
Keep it going...Support the circular economy by donating preloved items to the Community Skip Service
Barnet Council have expanded ways to donate items for reuse through their community skips service. Initially introduced as a way for residents to get rid of large items of furniture and electricals, the council have now extended the free service to include items for reuse. Drop off your preloved bikes, wooden furniture, toys and bagged textiles in good or fair condition and these items will be refurbished and reused in a new home.
An opportunity for you...BBC DIY SOS 'The Big Build' are on the lookout for their next project!
Keep Tabs On Your Trash Food waste contributes to least 36 million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. You can fight food waste by shopping smarter. Try writing down every wilted salad, forgotten yoghurt and mouldy bread bun you chuck in the bin for a week. You'll start to see trends that you can use to modify your shopping list. You can also try apps such as Fridgely to remind you when food about to expire. It'll save the planet and stop you from finding nasty science experiments in the back of your fridge!

Call out for North Finchley local artists/contributors DPQ are working with Barnet Council to look at pop up events for North Finchley. The local town team want these community events to celebrate the richness and diversity of life in North Finchley by showcasing local groups, businesses and individuals.
At this stage they are looking to find out what interest there is locally for people to get involved, whether to perform, run a food stall, lead a class, do a demonstration, sell self-made work or help with marketing and organising the events. Based on who's interested in contributing they'll then start to formulate a programme of pop-up events and then follow-up with the potential contributors directly.
